Soda is a universal means for cleaning and removing unpleasant odors. It has a unique ability to absorb any dirt. This is especially true if animal urine got on the carpet. Simply pour the required amount of baking soda on the stain, spread and wait 30 minutes to an hour. After that, vacuum.
Vinegar for fresh stains
Another effective way to clean a carpet from dirt at home is a vinegar solution. Mix 2 tablespoons of vinegar in 0.5 liters of water and apply to the surface with a stiff brush or sponge. Blot the stain and let the solution dry. After-vacuum the mat.

Household soap from old dirt

If the dirt is already in, dissolve the grated soap in water and rub the area with the stain with a brush until it washes off. After that, take clean water and wipe the soapy area with a sponge or a clean cloth. At the end, you need to hang the mat to dry in a well-ventilated place. After it is completely dry, vacuum it on medium power.
Rubbing alcohol for preventive cleaning
After some time of use, carpets can become dirty or “salty”. It can be imperceptible if you don’t look closely, but if you don’t clean them for a long time, it will be difficult to deal with serious, large pollution on your own. It is much easier to do preventive cleaning at least once a year – the rug will never be dirty.
To do this, mix 10 ml of alcohol (2-3 tablespoons) in 0.5 l of water. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle and treat the surface with a sponge. Leave until completely dry and vacuum. You will notice how much softer the surface will become, and the colors will be brighter.
