Dexter High School’s star defensive lineman, Liam Andrews, made a joyous announcement last Friday – he’s committed to play college football at Penn State. Ranked as a four-star prospect by 247Sports, Andrews is a prominent figure in Massachusetts football.

This marks a great leap for Penn State, securing their 23rd hard commit in their 2024 recruiting cycle. With this new addition, Penn State’s position in the national ranking has risen to an impressive No. 7.

The 4-star player had been sought after by 21 other football programs, which included notable names like South Carolina and Wisconsin.

Opening up to On3, Andrews shared that deciding to commit to Penn State was a challenge, but ultimately, he felt a strong affinity with their style.

“The decision was very tough,” he confessed. “Penn State won out after I took a break from talking to coaches and did some real thinking… I chose Penn State because of the feeling I get when I step on campus. It just feels like home. The people there are exceptional and really care about you. I have great relationships with many of the staff members and even some players. Their scheme also fits my play style very well. They move their [defensive] tackles around a lot and have them play aggressively, which is perfect for me.”
